Singam II Movie Review

Suriya’s Hari directed Singam II, does not roar, it grunts! The film is watchable in parts only due to the awesome performance of Suriya, as a mass action hero cop. Hari is one director who refuses to move away from the comforts of the formula, and believes that he can go on rehashing his earlier films.

Singam II exactly where Singam wrapped up.After 6 months staying under the radar,Duraisingam who works as NCC teacher in a town school as per the home ministers request, decides to take charge after he uncovers a dangerous web of ciminal work.Duraisingam sets up 'Operation D' as he takes on international drug dealers in his second innings of his carrer.

The movie is full entertainment in 167 minute.Good guys among the criminals are treated to his home made Sambar, bad guys get his bullets. Surya is fit and energetic as doting lover, teacher, son, and cop deserves applause.Suriya has worked harder than the first part.

The pace works fine in the first half and the first few minutes of second half.As it progresses into second half, scenes and shorts appear to become awfully repetitive and the audience starts groaning towards the climax as Suriya confronts the poorly charactrised Villain Daniel Sapani.

The movie has two heroines(Anushka and Hansika) and two comedians (Santhanam and Vivek) screaming for screen space.Anushka looks good and acts too and Hansika's trademark expressions provide some in this action movie.Anjali is in a item song.Santhanm scores again with his enthiran entry,Gangnam dance and Vishwaroopam fight.Vivek is commparatively subdued in his brief role. There are many such enjoyable instances which are sure to get into the comedy channels soon.Actor Rahman does a slightly better job.

Director Hari has stuck to his genre and has delivered a crisp film. Although the events and the premise are not something new in Singam II and the formula of one scene each of ‘action-romance-sentiments-comedy', is strictly adhered to, he should be credited for rendering an engaging and entertaining product. He succeeds in holding the interest of the audience to a larger extent and satisfies the viewers.Devi Sri Prasad's Background score is also ordinary. True to the name Singam, the film is dominated by action sequences but there is no blood and gore. Cinematographer Priyan has done a decent job

Ultimately it is Suriya who carries the film to the winning post. His passion and the way he brings an ordinary regular larger-than-life hero character alive on screen is lesson for other commercial heroes. On the whole, it is a predictable entertainer that follows the age old formula, which might appeal to viewers who finds comfort in mass masala entertainers. Watch it only for Suriya. He is in top form.
