Actor Asif Ali detained, let off by Kerala Police

Film actor Asif Ali and his driver was held by the police at Tirurangadi on Monday for following the vehicle of Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Tribes P.K. Jayalakshmi in a suspicious manner. Asif Ali’s BMW car followed the Minister’s pilot vehicle for a few kilometres on the National Highway, raising suspicion among the escort team and  the cars head lamp is ON. The police stopped the actor’s car at Kooriyad and told Asif's driver to turnoff the head lamp..Asif Ali explained that,for BMW there is not a seperate switch for head lamp except the engine switch.

Asif Ali said that,“I came to Kozhikode to invite some of my friends for my marriage. After this, on my way to Ernakulam, the minister’s vehicle overtook my vehicle. After this, my vehicle was blocked by the police near Kottakkal. I don’t know the reason,” he said, adding, “I have informed the matter to the minister and resumed the journey to Ernakulam.”At this time Asif's fans rounded him for Photos and Autographs.Circle Inspector A.Umesh took Mr. Asif Ali to Tirurangadi police station and let them go after giving them a warning.
