Sreesanth's story to be told on celluloid

After filling every tabloid's spreadsheet and news channel's time slots, the life story of alleged IPL fixer S Sreesanth's will now be a part of the celluloid.

Malayalam filmmaker Shaji Kailas has made several films based on real life incidents. He will be teaming up with writer A.K. Sajan to make a film that is loosely based on tainted cricketer Sreesanth, who has previously directed films such as Ekalavyan and Mafia that centred on the operations of the underworld in Kerala and Karnataka. The film will be simply titled ‘Cricket’ and will follow the story of a talented Malayali cricketer’s rise to sporting highs and the eventual fall from grace.

The proposed movie will be based on the rise and fall of a young Malayali cricketer. A young all-rounder cricketer will be the lead character of this film. He is  from a small school in Kerala. He reaches great heights because of his talent and hard work. But after attaining fame, greed takes over and he starts wishing for things he never wanted and ends up doing things he would never have.

The current spot-fixing case surrounding the IPL has come as a shock to players and spectators and has added to the drama of the tournament. Several former and current players along with public voices are demanding that the accused sportspersons be awarded strict punishment.
