Nivin Pauly and Rajeev Pillai is busy playing cricket these days. Its not about the celebrity cricket matches which, incidentally, gave a high to there career; the actors has now taken to the field to play a cricket crazy villagers onscreen, in photographer-turned-director Abrid Shines debut film, 1983.
Interestingly, the fellow players in the celebrity cricket team is Saiju Kurup and Jacob Gregory are joining him in the film.“The film is about a villager, whose passion for cricket changes his life. Since the movie has a rural backdrop, you’ll find the characters in it playing the gentleman’s game in their rural avatars, without much of the paraphernalia of professional players,” Nivin Pauly says.
Needless to say, the actor, whose last Malayalam release Da Thadiya had him play a stylish villain, will be seen playing cricket draped in a lungi and shirt! he completes Arikil Oraal, his next film with Chapters director Sunil Ibrahim. “It’s a thriller that explores the different facets of people within their private space,” says Nivin, who’s now keeping his fingers crossed for his first Malayalam-Tamil bilingual, Neram.
