Remember Mohanlal’s role as Dr Sunny, a psychiatrist in Faasil’s hit movie Manichithrathazhu? Well, it looks like the superstar will reprise the role for which he won many accolades in Priyadarshan’s next film.
However, the film will not be a sequel to Manichithrathazhu. Priyadarshan has reportedly sought permission from the makers of Manchithrathazhu to introduce the character in the film.
The yet-to-be-titled film is being scripted by Priyadarshan and Dennis Joseph, who are reuniting for a project 26 years after the Mohanlal-starrer Cheppu. The team has currently completed the preliminary draft for the upcoming movie that is scheduled to start filming by June end.
Incidentally, there were rumours that actress Shobhana might reprise her role as Nagavalli/ Ganga in the movie albeit for a few scenes. However, Priyadarshan refutes the
news, telling us, “Only Mohanlal and Innocent’s character, Unnithan, will be retained from the original movie.” This would mark the movie as the return vehicle for Innocent, who is making a comeback of sorts to the silver screen after a prolonged illness.
The team is mulling over the use of holography technology for 3D rendering. However, Priyadarshan informs us, “We will finalise that after we finish scripting. We also have to work out the cost of technology before settling on what technology to use, 3D or something else.”
